The World Ends with You The Animation: first look to the new Funimation anime
Today Funimation announced through a tweet a new anime: The World Ends With You The Animation, a transposition from the classic Square Enix game for Ninendo DS. The game, released in 2007, has a huge fan base, which is literally exploding in social networks.
The World Ends With You The Animation will be available in the Funimation portal during the course of 2021 and, looking at the trailer, we can see how the style of the animations has remained the same; right choice that will make many fans happy.

Neku awakens in the middle of Shibuya’s bustling Scramble Crossing with no memory of how he got there. Little does he know he’s been transported to an alternate plane of existence known as the Underground (UG). Now an unwilling participant in the mysterious “Reapers’ Game,” Neku must partner up with a girl named Shiki in order to survive. Together, they complete missions and defeat monsters known as “Noise” as they gradually uncover the true nature of this twisted Game.
We know, thanks to the DS game, that in this world some deaths are evoked on another existential plane called The Underground to play a game. The game offers several challenges (kill monsters called “Noise” or Reapers). Our protagonist is one of them, chosen to play and transcend to a higher spiritual form.
An information that should not be underestimated that the character design is in the hands of Tetsuya Nomura, who worked on Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts. Hype is guaranteed!
